Ursula Sarsfield runs Sarsfield Memorials, a family business founded by her grandfather in the 1940s.  Ursula knew that the internet can make a big difference to her business but didn’t know how to go about it or have the time to learn.  She then invested in having a website built but it didn’t bring about the return she thought it would.
It wasn’t that Ursula knew nothing about technology or the internet, just that she didn’t have the time to make the most of the resources she had. She had somebody doing blogging for her but neither the blogger or Ursula knew enough about how to make use of Search Engine Optimisation (SEO).
A misconception that Ursula had, which is a common theme amongst small business owners, is that it would cost too much to fix anything that went wrong. Her business had a website but it had been built by a graphic designer so although aesthetically pleasing it didn’t work for the business. It was way down in the pecking order, beyond the dreaded page ten, for Google searches. Despite the expense of having the site created, no business was being generated from it as the web contact form wasn’t forwarding on messages. Every time she tried to get the designer to fix it but he didn’t seem able to.
